Colonel Joseph Blackwell served his country with honor up to his death at the age of eighty from wounds gotten in his final gun battle in the defense of young woman he was assign to protect. A day does not go by that I don't see some little thing that brings his memories back to me. It is not that the Colonel served his country so long but that he serve it so well. Few people you will meet in you life that will have a powerful effect on you and for me it was the Colonel. His death sadden me but the lessons I learn from my brief time knowning him will last me till the day I die.
